Give the searcher a reason to choose this page

A title like “Home” uses valuable space without explaining the service. Start with the page's actual subject, then use the description to answer the visitor's next question.

Example · a local repair service

Home | North Street Heating

A more specific title

Boiler repairs in York | North Street Heating

A description with a different job

Book a boiler repair in York. See the faults we cover, our service area and how to request an appointment.

Read the preview, not just the score

Would someone understand the page without seeing your website? If not, revise the wording in your website or CMS, publish it and run this check again.

What the score measures

Five checks worth 20 points each: a title, its length range, a description, its length range and a valid web address. It does not judge writing quality, relevance or rankings.

Why might Google show different wording?

Google creates title links and snippets automatically and may use other page text. Display width also varies, so the character guidance is not a guaranteed cutoff. See Google's title-link guidance and snippet guidance.

What does the HTML show?

It shows the title, description and canonical tags found in the page response, formatted for copying. Missing tags stay missing. Update them in your website or CMS; this checker does not change your site or run page JavaScript.
